It is official... We have now driven 2000km, so it is time to plan a road tripThe 2027 road trip planning is underway and we have even branded the Landy with our plans. I guess we have to do it now! Yes, that is right.. We are going to drive a 67 year old vehicle, which I essentially built, from Australia to the UK and back to the Land Rover factory in Birmingham.
The house is up for sale, we are ready to quit our jobs and the route is being planned.

First camping trip has been booked in - 2nd May 2026!

Camping

The first 'official' camping trip has been booked for the weekend of 2nd May, for two nights. This will challenge the Landy and see if she can drive 200km non-stop (without breaking down!) and give the full camping layout a proper try out.
Will she make it? Will she break down? Will we get stuck in rural Queensland?

A very bad break down - Now fixed again though!

Break down

After being slightly silly and trying to see how fast a 66-year-old Land Rover could go, the LandyRover decided to have a protest, and a Valve Sping snapped, causing the number two exhaust valve to bend and a scratch in the top of the piston.
4 weeks of waiting for parts and then some major surgery later, the LandyRover is back on the road!

THE LAND ROVER IS ROADWORTHY AND REGISTERED!!!!!!

The LandyRover has passed its Roadworthy Check and is now registered in Quensland, so let the fun begin!
Now, we have the challenge of fighting with the off mechanical issue, we need to convert her into a camper van, install a rooftop tent, awnings, fridge, hot water..... (and on and on and on)
Let the build phase begin!
