Ran out of fuel after trying to find out if the fuel gauge saying empty was correct. Rather embarrassingly, I didn't have fuel in the other tank and I didn't have a jerry can.
Added fuel, plus added fuel to the second tank!
After trying to break the land speed record in a Land Rover, we had a valve spring snap, which caused a gouge out of the piston and bent the valve
Major surgery was performed to remove the cylinder head, replace the head gasket and valve. New spring
The bushing/button in the distributor cap failed and fell out.
Fixed with the end of an old rivet to get home, and then the distributor arm and cap were replaced.
An electrical short on the firewall was upsetting the coil and stopping the engine from firing, and stopping the starter motor from working. This happened on a 4wd track.
Needed to be towed, and then the starter button was disconnected to stop the short.
