From Vietnam war service to the modern world, this Landy has lived a life. But her next big adventure starts now: in 2027, we're driving her from Brisbane to Birmingham.
History of The Landy Rover
The Land Rover was built in very early 1960 in Birmingham, UK. She was shipped to Australia with 'civilian' vehicle number 153001027 and started life in the Australian Army as vehicle ARN 111-387 (Census #6024A). She saw active service for the entire war and in the late 1960s, she was used as a convoy vehicle for the AN/KPQ1 radar equipment. She left the army in 1982, worked on a farm for several years and then later ended up broken and in a field in Dalby (Queensland) for over 15 years and then in someoness back yard and under a tree.
I purchased her in 2023 for $2500 and 3 years later, she was back on the road and ready for some adventures. Possibly even back to Vietnam, but that is an adventure for another day.
