Spare Parts Carried for Road-Side Repairs

I rescued this 1960 Ex-Army Series 2 for $2500 and poured everything into restoring her to a world roaming off-road camper. However, Land Rovers are famously temperamental, and given that I was the one who did the rebuilding, the odds of a breakdown have probably doubled. Whether I am deep in the bush (assuming I get there) or limping back toward Brisbane, being self-sufficient is the only way to travel in one of these old vehicles. When you are out on the road, and especially planning a much longer 'ultimate mid-life crisis' trip, a critical manifest of spares isn't just a good idea; it is the difference between a quick roadside fix and a very long walk home.

Am I one of the few people who carry valve springs and head gaskets on a trip to the supermarket?

Essential Spares & Gear

Overlanding in a 66-year-old vehicle requires more than just a GPS. It requires a rolling workshop. I carry a curated inventory of parts to ensure that a snapped cable or engine valve mishaps do not end the fun and adventure.

Spare Parts List:
Fluids: Oil, Brake, Radiator
Engine: Valves, Springs, Gaskets
Electrics: Fuses, Bulbs, Wire
Fuel: Spare Pump, Filters, Tools
